concrete counter top update

the concrete mold was disassembled and removed from the form today.

the concrete was then turned over so we could see what the top was like.  It came out wonderful.   Next step is to polish and smooth the surface to get it ready for the kitchen island.   It has the look of zinc metal with variations of gray and slate.  It will need to cure for a few days before it gets the final polishing.   The cost of the materials to make this counter top came in at about $95. (the concrete was $25 and the materials to make the form and other extras came in at about $70)

I will be giving you more info on the counter top making process in a future post.  Meanwhile here is an excellent reference book if you are interested in working with concrete

you can find it here
